EKU Beats UT-Martin for OVC Championship
MARTIN, Tenn. ? The Eastern Kentucky University football team blocked a 45-yard field goal attempt as time expired to hang on for a thrilling 33-31 victory over #18 UT Martin Saturday afternoon at Graham Stadium. With the win, the Colonels (8-3, 7-1 OVC) clinched their 20th Ohio Valley Conference title and earned a spot in the upcoming NCAA FCS playoffs.

Stanfa takes 11th place in state backstroke final
Guilford?s Margo Stanfa finished in fifth place in the 100-yard backstroke consolation final of Saturday?s girls state swim and dive meet, ending up with an 11-place overall standing in the event. Stanfa, a senior who placed fourth in the backstroke finals at state last year, had a pretty good race in Friday?s preliminaries, but not good enough to boost her into the championship heat.
