Getting a second chance: Batavia couple learn lesson from candle and fire
The candle flickering in John and Laura Laursen?s newly remodeled bathroom provided a nice ambiance. John Laursen, a contractor, did most of the work himself, including installing a jacuzzi. The Saturday after Thanksgiving 2007, the couple was downstairs watching TV while their son played outside. Then the smoke alarm went off.
