Former Assembly speaker's son charged in San Diego murder

Killer sentenced to 22 years to life
FONDA - An Amsterdam man who admitted to fatally shooting another city man has been sentenced to 22 years to life in state prison. Josue Santos-Rivera, 22, of 80 Bunn St., was sentenced Monday in Montgomery County Court for the May 1 slaying of Jose Payano, 35, of 8 McCleary Ave., according to District Attorney James "Jed" Conboy. Santos-Rivera pleaded guilty Oct. 9 to second-degree murder.
