Update: Man Wanted For Double Murder In Texas Arrested In Winston-Salem
Forth Worth police say Pedro Isamel Romero killed two people at a bar in 1989. Their Cold Case unit re-opened the case and a tip lead them to Winston-Salem.

St. Joseph School closing
SALEM and mdash; St. Joseph School, the last Catholic school in a city that once had nearly a dozen, will close in June, a church official said yesterday. After 116 years, a parochial school that was built by French-Canadian immigrants, survived the Great Fire of 1914 and continued on after a parish closing four years ago, has finally succumbed to the bottom line.

Auto store advancing
The ground has been broken, and work is in progress on what soon will be Advance Auto Parts in Salem. The auto parts store is located on state Route 14 across from Wal-Mart and Dunkin' Donuts. The construction is being done by WXZ Construction, LLC Development, Inc. from Fairview Park, Ohio.

Salem Tuesday A Laurel Street man doing work on his house told police at 7:30 p.m. that someone stole the table saw. The saw, valued at $500, had been on his driveway when the resident went inside. When the man came back outside, the table saw was gone.

Girls hoops got next
SUGAR CITY -- Four high school girls basketball teams squared off at Sugar-Salem High School Tuesday night in a preseason jamboree. Varsity girls from North Fremont, Sugar-Salem, Madison, and Century high schools scrimmaged in round-robin style. The goal for the night was simple: get used to playing basketball again.

Warthogs Renamed the Dash
