Capitol: No dogs allowed
SALEM, Ore. (AP) - State lawmakers say they plan to ban dogs from the statehouse by the time their 2009 session starts in January. They say they want to establish a more professional atmosphere and protect their expensive new furniture.

Police
Salem Monday An English Street resident reported to police at 4 p.m. that two of the tires on her car were slashed. James W. Walsh, 52, of 8 Arbella St., Salem, was arrested at 5:18 p.m. and charged with driving with a revoked license, following a motor vehicle stop.
