SALEM - Tuesday's contest between Salem and United Local wasn't played for a checkmark in the win column. It won't count towards postseason playoff seedings or used as a barometer for league honors. But the game - which ended with a 56-42 Salem victory -still mattered.

Girls hoops got next
SUGAR CITY -- Four high school girls basketball teams squared off at Sugar-Salem High School Tuesday night in a preseason jamboree. Varsity girls from North Fremont, Sugar-Salem, Madison, and Century high schools scrimmaged in round-robin style. The goal for the night was simple: get used to playing basketball again.
