No place to eat? You're not talking about Salem!
This column first appeared in the Nov. 15, 1992, edition of Today's Sunbeam. A few weeks ago a lady employed at the county courthouse made a rather rash statement that was quoted in Today's Sunbeam. She was reported to have said that there is no place to have lunch in Salem.

SALEM, Ore. - Former Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber says it's "extremely doubtful" he'll be picked to be interior secretary in the Obama administration. The 60-year-old former governor has been mentioned as a candidate for the Interior Department post or other jobs in the Obama administration.
