Teen pregnancy is not a problem isolated to Gloucester. In 2006, the most recent year data is available, there were 28 births to Salem mothers age 15-19.

West Salem Panthers finish perfect season
The West Salem summer baseball team notched two more Dairyland Conference victories last week to end their conference season with a perfect 16-0 record. Coach Chuck Ihle wasn?t certain, but he believed it was the first time ever that a Panther team had finished the conference season undefeated.

The Salem Avalanche got a seven-inning shutout performance from Douglas Arguello Wednesday night in a 4-1 series-ending victory over the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. The Avalanche (19-33) won a series with the Pelicans (35-17) for the first time in 2008 with the victory.
