West Nile virus bird found in Dutchess
POUGHKEEPSIE ? A second West Nile virus positive bird has been found in Dutchess County. A house finch, collected in the City of Poughkeepsie on August 14, was confirmed by a state Health Department laboratory to be positive for West Nile virus on August 29.

Atlanta man contracts West Nile virus
Health officials say an Atlanta man became the first person in the state to contract West Nile virus. Officials declined to identify the 58-year-old man, who sought help in late August and returned to his home earlier this week.

Rialto man Inland's first West Nile virus casualty this year, health officials say
A Rialto man is the first Inland resident to die of a West Nile virus infection this year and the third in the state, health officials said Friday. The 48-year-old man, whose name was not released, died Aug. 27.

West Nile cases dip in S.D.
There have been 28 human cases of West Nile Virus in South Dakota this year through the beginning of September, a number that Health Department officials say is low compared to other years. "This is the second-lowest we've had since 2002," said Dr. Lon Kightlinger, state epidemiologist. At the end of August 2007, 164 cases had been reported.
