Westbury clerk wounded in abdomen by armed bandit
A 69-year-old stationery store clerk was in extremely critical condition Friday after being shot in the lower abdomen during a robbery of the store in Westbury, Nassau police said.

Tribute: Warren and Marjorie McCandless ‘sure were a match'
Who: Warren D. McCandless, 70, and Marjorie Y. McCandless, 72, of Louisburg, Kan. When and how they died: Warren died in April from complications after heart surgery. Marjorie died Aug. 28 from cancer. They would have celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in December.
