?Children of the Dump? document their life on film
?We see how they bring the cars in, dismantle them and then take the leftover aluminum carcass over the edge of a cliff near my house?, that is the description made by 11 year old Luis Adán Ramírez Hernández, a reality he documents with a camera and it is now part of an exhibit at the No Name gallery in Tijuana.

Home, home on the base
An unusual donation from the San Diego Zoo to Camp Pendleton may turn out to be more precious than anybody realized at the time. In the early to mid-1970s, zoo officials gave the base 14 bison because they didn't have enough room to keep the animals.

The home they love, for now
Sun, Sep 7, 2008 (2 a.m.) Rachel ? The people here love to drink booze, shoot guns and ride dirt bikes. They can do them all simultaneously without risking arrest as they come and go from the A?Le?Inn, the only bar and the lone business within 50 miles of this desert outpost.

old and new, TRIAL AND ERROR
SCOTT TWP. ? When Lewis Peregrim first started taking a more active role in running Miller?s Orchards, his family?s farm, he wanted to go organic. He tried, but the venture failed. Without pesticides to keep the bugs away, his vegetables grew into irregular shapes and their skins were marred by insect tracks and bite marks.

Oh, deer: Man finds doe floating in pool
Steve Ring got a grisly surprise in his backyard swimming pool Saturday: a drowned deer. Ring said in a phone interview that he can't figure how (or why) the deer, a young doe, cleared a 4-foot fence atop a retaining wall and got into the pool at his Cottage Grove home.
