Coldworker is a Swedish death metal band, formed in early 2006. The band sign a deal with Relapse Records in June 2006, and since then released two studio albums, the debut The Contaminated Void, in November 2006, followed by Rotting Paradise, in May 2008.
History
In January 2006, Nasum's former drummer Anders Jakobson, began a search for musicians to form a new band. Shortly after, Jakobson post a message in his blog at Nasum.com, and the guitarist Anders Bertilsson offered to play in the band. Followed by bassist Oskar Pålsson, that originally was looking for a session drummer to record a demo-he then asked to Jakobson, who also spoke to him about his new project; Bertilsson opted to join with the new Jakobson's band-who was still unnamed. The three members started to write riffs for new songs. During February 2006, the trio started exchanging riffs, and soon began rehearsing and writing songs. In March 2006, the band was joined by second guitarist André Alvinzi (also in Carnal Grief). In April 2006, the name Coldworker was announced, as well as the joining of vocalist Joel Fornbrant.[1]
The Contaminated Void
Coldworker played their first concert, in June 2006, and soon after started recording their debut studio album The Contaminated Void. The album was recorded by the band in their rehearsal room over three weeks, mixed by Dan Swanö, and mastered by Peter In De Betou.[1][2] In July 2006, the band sign a record deal with Relapse Records.[3]
Rotting Paradise
Coldworker recorded their second album, Rotting Paradise, between December 2007 until January 2008, and was then mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö at Unisound Studios. Rotting Paradise was released worldwide, in May 2008, through Relapse Records on vinyl and CD.
