Shanti (Shanti Snyder) is a Japanese/English lyricist, singer, songwriter, and music TV host. She frequently appearing with her father (Tommy Snyder) in the band "Snyder-s Market".
Shanti has appeared with such artists as Maaya Sakamoto, Mickie Yoshino, Keisuke Kuwata, Crystal Kay, Origa, Genta, Hiroshi Matsuda, Yoko Kanno (e.g. in Escaflowne the Movie), Ike's Band, and Scorpion Death Funk.
Ms. Snyder is also a frequent lyricist and vocalist for commercials under the CM label GRAND FUNK Studio[citation needed], recording songs and narrations for businesses such as Coca-Cola, Tokyo Disney Resort, Xerox and many more. [1]
Most notably is the song called "Home" that Shanti co-wrote with Hajime Yoshizawa and was the featured vocalist. The song received much attention in Japan when it was used for Mount Rainer's Caffe Latte television campaign. In June 2008, when the song was pre-released on iTunes to promote Hajime Yoshizawa's "Japan" album, the song became the best selling download on iTunes for a short time.[2]
Shanti's debut album, "Share My Air," was recorded in Paris with some of France's top musicians.[1] The album was released in Japan on her father's private label, Hayama, in January 2008.[3]
From October 2008, Shanti is co-hosting J-Melo an NHK World music program that's broadcast worldwide. [4]
She is also a talented exhibited artist and has done mural work for children. [1]
