Roy Sætre Khantatat (born March 12, 1970), is a Norwegian singer. Commonly known as Roy Khan or simply Khan, he is the vocalist for the symphonic power metal band Kamelot. Before becoming famous as a metal vocalist, he studied opera in Norway for 3 years.
Before Khan joined Kamelot in 1997, he was in the progressive metal band Conception. After Mark Vanderbilt left Kamelot in 1998, the existing members made Roy go skydiving with them to prove himself, and he succeeded. He co-writes all of Kamelot's songs with the band's guitarist and founder Thomas Youngblood. In 2005, Khan reunited with his previous band Conception and played at the 2005 ProgPower USA VI festival[1] on Friday, September 16 and Norwegian Scream Magazine's 15 Years & 100 Issues Festival on Saturday, October 1. Khan, guitarist Tore Østby (previously from ARK) and the rest of Conception reunited; it was clarified Khan will continue to support Kamelot.
