Á, á (a-acute) is a letter of the Czech, Faroese, Hungarian, Icelandic, and Slovak languages. This letter also appears in Irish, Occitan, Portuguese, Spanish, and Vietnamese as a variant of the letter „a“.
Usage in various languages
Chinese
In Chinese pinyin á is the yángpíng tone (--, high-rising tone) of „a“.
Czech, Hungarian, and Slovak
Á is the 2nd letter of the Hungarian alphabet, Czech alphabet, and Slovak alphabet and represents /a-/.
Faroese
Á is the 2nd letter of the Faroese alphabet and represents /-/ or /„a“/.
Icelandic
Á is the 2nd letter of the Icelandic alphabet and represents /au-/ (as in "ow").
Swedish
Though not in the alphabet, it is commonly used to describe price per piece, as in "120 SEK, á 12 SEK" (thus meaning ten pieces).
Vietnamese
In the Vietnamese alphabet, á is the s-c tone (high-rising tone) of „a“.
